The serial key provided by e-mail after i bought this yesterday is incorrect!!!! it's not for Mac Premium Bundle X8, it's for Mac Internet Security X8? I have contacted your support and still waiting a reply? Intego support kindly enough checked that serial for me and asked me to contact you guys?

Why is there no hint, that the price is only for 1 year? Especially in mupromo it should be stated clearly!

MacPro3,1 Dual Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2.8 Ghz, 24 GB RAM, 500 GB HD, OS X 10.9.5, Mavericks.

I have been using VirusBarrier since X2 and was using VirusBarrier/NetBarrier X6 on Mountain Lion until a few Months ago when I did a clean install of Mavericks and never got around to upgrading and installing VB/NB X8 until about two weeks ago.

Now, VB has always been a memory and CPU hog because it spawns multiple processes to scan files, and until I upgraded RAM from 8 GB to 24 GB, I used to go into Activity Monitor and Kill five or six of the spawned processes every time things got sluggish. With 24 GB of RAM, this wasn’t a problem. It is, however, a problem in general with VB and Intego should have fixed it long ago.

A few weeks ago, I purchased an upgrade to VB/NB X8 and installed in on my MacPro and set it up to do a complete scan of the 500 GB Disk overnight. The next morning, the CPU wouldn’t wake up when I clicked the mouse, and with energy saving turning off the screen, I couldn’t even see if there were any tell tails as to why it crashed on the screen: pressing the startup button to wake the machine up did nothing. I forced shutdown by holding the start button and then restarted by pressing it again: it hung with the spinning wheel of death. I force started again and held down the Shift key to start in Safe Mode: nothing. I forced started again and held the opt key to bring up my external bootable disc: nothing. I force started again and held down the cmd-opt-PR keys to reset PRAM: nothing. I temporarily unplugged the power to reset the SMC, booted it up again, was able to reset PRAM, booted into Safe mode, and when it came up, uninstalled X8 and rebooted in normal mode: no problem since.

Now, I don’t really care if the problem is an interaction with other apps (I routinely run 18–20 apps and around 30 Preference Panes and/or Background Apps), but when and app crashes my system, I consider it to be malware. I won’t run VB/NB until Intego cleans its apps up. I’ll be buying a copy of ClamXV tonight.

Just upgraded to X8 from 2013 version - love the new interface! I trust Intego more than the others because they have the best malware detection rate and focus on building great software specifically for Mac. What I like: - Personal Backup - Washing Machine utility - Anti-Virus (best detection rate) - Two-way firewall What features would be nice to have: - Ad blocking - Anti-vandal - File encryption In terms of anti-virus and firewall, Intego is the best for Macs.
